Munkbrarup

Munkbrarup is a municipality in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. The districts Balm, Bockholmwik (Danish: Bogholmvig ), Horny ( Gejl ) Iskiersand ( Eskærsande ) Kragholm, male ( Ryde ), Siegum ( Sigum ) and Siegumlund ( Sigumlund ) are in the municipal area.

Geography

Munkbrarup located near Flensburg in northern fishing and is a health resort.

History

In a settlement of the region in the Neolithic period, the megalithic grave Siegum suggests. In the parish Munkbrarup stood from 1209 to 1582 the Cistercian monastery dog, Rus Regis ( Rude Monastery ). In connection with the founding of a monastery, the village was mentioned for the first time, namely as Holdernes - Brotorp. The suffix " Munk " owes much to the monks. The floor plan of the monastery was discovered in 2005 in the base of Glücksburg Castle Lake.

Built in the last quarter of the 12th century St. Lawrence's Church is a church of Jutland granite blocks and originally had a circular apse, but no tower. The south portal is modeled on the Petri - portal of the Schleswig Cathedral. 1565 burned down the church. In 1582 it was restored shortly before the construction of Glücksburg castle. From the monastery church of the mighty triumph Cross was transferred to Munkbrarup. The Renaissance altar in the church is one of the oldest Protestant altars in the state. 1936/37, the church was renovated in the Romanesque style.

The windmill built in 1870 "Hope " is a Erdholländer and served for grinding grain. Today it is used for exhibitions and events.

Policy

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections in 2013 five seats, the voter community FWMR and the SPD have three seats.

The coat of arms shows in the picture box, the Danish coat of arms borrowed Schleswig lions. The grate in the bottom field was the symbol of Munkbrarupharde ( rust of St. Lawrence, the patron of the parish church Munkbraruper ). The crest is decorated in blue and yellow in the Schleswig colors.

Economy

In the municipality are still pronounced rural structures available, proximity to Flensburg on the Flensburg Fjord, however, also meant that the number of residential areas continues to increase. However, there is also a commercial and service offering that is to be expanded.

Sports

The TSV Munkbrarup was founded in 1921 and has over 1300 members. He was awarded in 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively with the GEK- width sports award of the National Sports Association of Schleswig -Holstein. The football department plays since 2005 in the SG Nord fishing. The handball players had recorded in the 1980s and 1990s great successes in a lottery syndicate with the neighboring club Glücksburg 09.

The Chairman of the TSV Munkbrarup Hans -Joachim Thadewaldt is the community since 2006 honorary citizen.
