Sankt Marein bei Graz until the end of 2014 a municipality in the district of Graz-Umgebung between Graz and Feldback 1257 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Styria. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the community and the Krumegg ( located in the district of Southeastern Styria ) community Petersdorf II, the new community will be known as the market town of Sankt Marein bei Graz. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG. The boundaries of the districts of Graz-Umgebung and Südoststeiermark be up to the effective date of the merger changed so that the new church will lie entirely in the district of Graz-Umgebung.

Geography

Geographical Location

Sankt Marein bei Graz is located about 20 km east of the provincial capital of Graz in the district of Graz-Umgebung in the East Styrian Hill Country. Through the village flows the Pickelbach, a tributary of the Raab. Sankt Marein bei Graz is the easternmost town in the district.

History

The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945 to 1955 she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Traffic

Sankt Marein bei Graz is located off the main roads. The Southern Highway ( A 2) is approximately 11 km away and the junction Lassnitzhoehe (169 ) can be achieved. The field Straße (B 68) from Gleisdorf to field creek is about 6 km away, the church Straße (B 73) from Graz to Kirchbach in Steiermark about 8 km.

In St. Marein there is no train station. Access to the Styrian Eastern Railway consists Studenzen - Fladnitz station in about 7 km with hourly regional train connections to Graz and track village or on the field creek.

Graz Airport is about 23 km away.
