The Yaroslavl Oblast (Russian Ярославская область / Jaroslawskaja oblast ) is an oblast in central Russia.

The oblast is situated in the northern part of the East European Plain, the climate is temperate continental, more than 40 % of the area is forested. The Volga River flows through the oblast; in Rybinsk Reservoir was dammed to form a large lake. Nature and abundance of water make one of the advantages of the region, as these are used for tourism.

The main industries include the chemical industry and oil processing, textile and wood industry. An important factor is tourism.

Governor of the Oblast is Sergei Jastrebow since May 2012.

Administrative divisions and cities

The Yaroslavl Oblast is divided into 17 Rajons and three urban districts, formed by the three largest cities.

The major cities are the administrative center of the oblast, Yaroslavl, the only other large city Rybinsk and important for tourism, the " Golden Ring " cities of Rostov and associated Pereslawl- Salesski, also Tutajew and Uglich. There are a total of eleven Oblast cities and 13 urban-type settlements.
