Ander Crenshaw

Ander Crenshaw ( born September 1, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American politician. Since 2001 he represents the state of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ander Crenshaw studied until 1966 at the University of Georgia in Athens. This was followed up in 1969 to study law at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He then worked for a short time as an investment banker. In addition to his political career, he worked as a lawyer. Crenshaw was a member of the Republican Party. In 1978, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Secretary of State of Florida. From 1972 to 1978 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Florida; 1986-1994 he was a member of the State Senate. In 1992 he became its President. In 1994, he competed unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for governor elections: he finished only fourth in the Primary; victorious was Jeb Bush.

In the congressional elections of 2000, Crenshaw was in the fourth electoral district of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Tillie K. Fowler on 3 January 2001. After five previous elections he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. Since he was confirmed in the congressional elections of 2010, with 77 % of the vote, he can take another legislative session on January 3, 2011. Ander Crenshaw is a member of the Appropriations Committee and three of its subcommittees. He is married to Kitty Kirk Crenshaw. His wife is the daughter of former Governor Claude Roy Kirk.
