Bert Bandstra

Bert Andrew Bandstra ( born January 25, 1922 Monroe County, Iowa, † October 23, 1995 in Pella, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1965 and 1967 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Bert Bandstra attended the New Sharon High School and then served during the Second World War between 1942 and 1945 in the U.S. Navy. He then continued his education until 1950 at Central College in Pella continued. After a subsequent law studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and its made ​​in 1953 admitted to the bar Bandstra began practicing in his new profession. Between 1955 and 1959 he was an attorney of Marion County.

Bandstra was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1959 and 1964 he served on the staff of Congressman Neal Edward Smith. In the congressional elections of 1964 he was in the fourth electoral district of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he entered on January 3, 1965 to succeed John Henry Kyl of the Republican Party. But since he lost against Kyl already at the next elections in 1966, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1967.
