Brauweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate

Brauweiler is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kirn -Land.

Geography

The place is located in the southern Hunsrück to 323 meters above sea level on the western Soon precursor above the ladle stream and the local community Simmertal.

History

Numerous prehistoric archaeological finds from different time periods testify that the district of the place was already settled very early. The oldest finds date back to the Neolithic period (3500-1800 BC).

The place name appears in 1380 as " Pruwilre " and goes back to the basic form " Brunen - Wilre " which can be interpreted as Hofgut of Bruno.

The village originally belonged to the United Gemarkung simmering under Dhaun, a spell basic rule of the imperial abbey of St. Maximin near Trier, in which the wild Earl of Dhaun exercised the Bailiwick law.

In the late Middle Ages Brewing hamlet was under the rule of Sponheim Koppenstein. The garment brooch was found in 1936 during excavations in the district Brauweiler. She comes from the La Tène period and shows a snake body with a bird's head. The original is in the Roman- Germanic Central Museum in Mainz. The lower half of the shield refers to the former belonging to the County of Sponheim front.

The council authorize the graphic chest, Kirn Sulzbach, to develop a design for a coat of arms. At the meeting on 12 August 1977, the Council adopted the draft submitted. After approval by the State Archives of the Ministry of the Interior in Mainz issued on 7 December 1977, approved to manage their own coat of arms.
