Winterburg
Winter Castle is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Sobernheim. Winter castle is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography
Winter castle lies deep in the narrow Ellerbach in southeastern Hunsrück, west of Gauch forest and south of the Soon Forest. Adjacent communities in the West Ippenschied, in northern winter creek, on the east Allenfeld and Rehbach and Bockenau south. The next largest cities are Bad Kreuznach in the east and simmering in the northwest.
History
Winter castle was first mentioned in records in 1325, the castle Winter Castle as Count Johann II von Sponheim Trier Archbishop Baldwin of Luxembourg auftrug fief. Winter castle belonged to the Rear County of Sponheim and was assigned to the division of Sponheim possessions in 1776 the Margraviate of Baden. After taking the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) the place from 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton Sobernheim in the Rhine- Moselle department. Winter castle was the capital of a Mairie, were among the twelve villages in nine communities. Based on the decisions taken at the Congress of Vienna agreements, the region and thus winter castle came in 1815 with the Kingdom of Prussia in 1816 to the pie Kreuznach in the Region of Koblenz, which was part of 1822 on the Rhine Province.
