Charles Gustav Binderup

Charles Gustav Binderup ( born March 5, 1873 in Horsens, Denmark, † August 19 1950 in Minden, Nebraska ) was an American politician. Between 1935 and 1939 he represented the fourth electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even as a small child at the age of six months, Charles was Binderup with his parents to the United States. The family settled on a farm near Hastings, Nebraska. Charles attended the public schools of his new home and the Grand Iceland Business College. He then worked in the area of Hastings and Minden in agriculture and trade. He was also involved in the dairy business.

Politically Binderup became a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1934 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced Ashton Shallenberger on 3 January 1935. After a re-election in 1936 he was able to implement his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1939. In the 1938 elections, he was defeated by Republican Carl Curtis. In 1940 he ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate for a return to Congress. After that he was in Minden co-founder and member of the Constitutional Money League of America. Charles Binderup died in 1950 and was buried in Minden.
