Flag of Arizona

The flag of the U.S. state of Arizona was officially adopted on 17 February 1917.

The seven red and six golden rays stand for the original 13 counties of the state. They recall the rays of the setting sun in the west. Arizona sunsets are famous. Red and yellow are the colors of the Spanish conquistadors who settled under Coronado 1540 Arizona. The blue in the flag symbolizes freedom. The resplendent in the heart of the flag star represents the copper mining industry. Finally, Arizona is the largest copper producer in the United States.

In 2001, a internet poll of North American Vexillological Association (North American customer Flag Association) about the best-designed flags of U.S. states and Canadian provinces, the flag of Arizona was elected to sixth place.
