Flag of Nevada

The flag of Nevada consists of a blue field with a star in the upper left corner, surrounded by the name "Nevada". Above there is a banner with the inscription " Battle Born ", indicating that the state of Nevada was created during the American Civil War. Under the stars are two branches of green sagebrush ( the state flower ) with yellow flowers.

History

The current flag originated partially revised in a design competition in 1926. The winning design by Louis Shellback III was on it in the House, where there was disagreement between the two houses on the placement of the word "Nevada" on the flag. It has reached a compromise, and Governor Frederick Bennett Balzar enacted in 1929 a law on the adoption of the new flag. 1989, however, discovered a researcher, that the bill, which was submitted to the Governor and signed by this, not correctly reproduced the agreement of 1929. A law passed in 1991 law decreed, therefore, that the word "Nevada " appears under the stars and on the branches and thus led to the current design.
