Flag of Washington, D.C.

The flag of the District of Columbia was introduced on 15 October 1938, a Commission of the U.S. Congress of the United States. The current version was designed by Charles AR Dunn ( based on a design from 1921 ).

It is based on a banner with the arms of George Washington's family, the namesake of the city of Washington, DC It comes from England ( County Durham ) and dates back to the year 1592nd

Description

The flag consists of three red five-pointed stars ( mullets ) two red parallel stripes, which extend over the whole width. The base cloth is white. The ratio is 3:5.

Original description:

"The proportions of the design are Prescribed in terms of the hoist, or vertical height, of the flag as follows: the upper white portion Shall be 3/10 of the hoist; the two horizontal bars are each 2/10 of the hoist; the white area in between the bars 1/10 of the hoist; and the base, or lowest whitespace, is 2/10 of the hoist. The three five -pointed stars have a diameter of 2/10 of the hoist and are spaced equidistant in the fly, or horizontal dimension of the flag. "
