Flag of Rhode Island

The flag of Rhode Iceland was introduced in 1877 and 1897 changed.

The flag is almost square and white. It shows in the middle of a golden anchor as a symbol of hope, which is surrounded by 13 golden stars. These stand for the original 13 colonies and Rhode Island's status as the 13th state to ratify the United States Constitution. A blue ribbon below the armature bears in gold letters the state motto: "HOPE" (Hope).

The flag of Rhode Iceland was formally introduced in its present form in 1897 and is often depicted with a golden hem around the edges.
