Flag of South Dakota

The flag of the U.S. state of South Dakota was adopted in 1963.

The flag of South Dakota was introduced on the basis of previous designs that the motto " The Sunshine State" wore originally ( City of the Sun ). In 1992, the theme to " The Mount Rushmore State" was ( The Mount Rushmore State ) changed.

The seal itself shows a landscape with icons for industry, agriculture and transport. At the top of the seal is a banner with the motto of the State:

In 2001, a internet poll of North American Vexillological Association, the North American Flaggenkundlervereinigung this flag was chosen from among the flags of the U.S. states and Canadian provinces in the fifth to last place.
