Flag of Montana

The flag of the U.S. state of Montana was adopted in 1905.

Seal

It shows the seal of Montana's centered on a blue background. Within the seal are a plow, a shovel and a pickaxe in a field in front of the Great Falls of the Missouri River. The banner is the motto of the State: " Oro y plata " ( Spanish for " Gold and Silver" )

History

The current flag was adopted in 1905 and the word "Montana" above the seal was added in 1981. In 1985, the flag was changed once again to set the font of "Montana". Before she was adopted as the state flag, it has been used as a military flag of voluntary associations from Montana in the Spanish- American War of 1898.

Trivia

In 2001, a web vote of the North American Vexillological Association ( the North American customer Flag Association ) this flag was chosen from among the ten worst flags of U.S. states and Canadian provinces on the third last place.
