Flag and seal of New Hampshire

The flag of the U.S. state of New Hampshire was introduced on 1 January 1932.

Description

The flag shows the state seal on a blue field. The seal is surrounded by a wreath and nine stars, a symbol that New Hampshire as the ninth state joined the Union. The wreath is an ancient symbol for honor, glory and victory. The water stands for the port of Portsmouth. The rock symbolizes the rough landscape and the rough character of the people of the state.

The Seal of New Hampshire shows that in 1776 in the town of Portsmouth -built USS Raleigh, one of the first 13 ships of war, which was built by order of the Continental Congress for new U.S. Navy.
