In Focus RS500 he received, among other things, a larger intercooler, which enables a higher compression ratio, a modified air filter, an enlarged diameter down pipe of the exhaust system and a different fuel pump, which he now delivers 257 kW (350 hp). In addition, the torque increased to 460 newton meters.

The chassis of the Focus RS500 was matched again sportier and has been widened by 40 mm, also the car was, like the Focus RS, fitted as standard with sports tires. Saddles of high performance brake system were painted red.

The RS500 was significantly faster in acceleration than the original Focus RS model. So he reached 100 km / h mark after just 5.6 seconds. The top speed was 265 km / h, however, only about 2 km / h higher.

The achieved during testing lap time on the short course of the Hockenheim ring was with 1:15,8 minutes two seconds faster than the original model.

In December 2011, began in the U.S. Ford plant in Wayne (Michigan) the production of the Focus Electric for the North American market.

This is the first mass-produced electric car from Ford that of a 107 kW electric engine which delivers a maximum torque of 250 Nm and accelerates up to a top speed of 137 km / h. The vehicle has two lithium-ion -accumulator blocks with 23 kWh of storage capacity that weigh around 300 kg, and enable a range of up to 162 km. Depending on the outside temperature, they are either heated or cooled to provide always the optimal range of the vehicle. Charging time via the fully integrated 6.6 - kW charger is on a 16 - amp charging station around seven hours can be charged the vehicle but also with a normal household power outlet, then the charging time increases to approximately eleven hours. 95 percent by recuperation of brake energy can be recovered. The driver will in this case the so-called "brake- coach" noted as brakes most efficiently to recover as much energy for charging the batteries.

The curb weight of the Focus Electric is around 1700 kg, the total weight is 2085 kg. As standard it is equipped with energy-saving bi -xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, and he also distinguished by a grille and a dashboard in a special design and 17- inch alloy wheels with 15 spokes of the Focus models with conventional drives.

The production of the Focus Electric in Europe began on June 12, 2013 in Saarlouis, thus increasing the originally planned for fall 2012 launch delayed to July 2013. In addition, Ford offers about the nature of current AG and Rhein Energie AG in Germany all customers the supply of CO2-neutral electricity generated at. Ford granted on the car and all electrical components are warranted for 5 years.

Also, a hybrid version is planned.

Focus ECOnetic

As with the previous model generation brought Ford in spring 2012, a particularly fuel-efficient ECOnetic variant on the market. The model was announced with a consumption of 3.5 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of less than 95 g / km. The 1.6 -liter turbo diesel will provide 77 kW (105 hp). Since April 2012, the Focus ECOnetic is available in two different versions, the ECOnetic 99g only has a new injection system via an improved cooling system and a revised engine management. The consumption of the model is 3.7 liters per 100 km, CO2 emissions are 99 g / km. The model ECOnetic 88g also has a lined underbody and wind deflectors to improve the airflow under the vehicle to the car with flow-optimized wheel covers and low rolling resistance tires fitted on steel rims. This consumption is reduced to 3.4 liters per 100 km, CO2 emissions are fixed at 88 g / km.

Focus ST

Since June 2012, the Focus ST will be produced at Ford's plant in Saarlouis. In this, however, no longer operates a five-cylinder Volvo under the hood, but a 2-liter EcoBoost engine. This engine delivers 184 kW ( 250 hp) and delivers in the speed range of 2,000 to 4,500 rpm -1, a 360 Nm of torque, power is transmitted via a manual six -speed gearbox. In 6.5 seconds the car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km / h, the top speed of 248 km / h. As the first sports version of a Ford vehicle, the Focus ST will be offered as a world car in more than 40 countries on all five continents.

In contrast to the second -generation model is available as a tournament of the Focus ST in Europe, with fuel consumption and exhaust emissions compared to this model falls by more than 20 percent. The consumption is 7.2 liters per 100 km, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 169 g / km. The presentation of the ST variant was held at the IAA in September 2011.

The Focus ST has a fitted as standard sports suspension with specially tuned shock absorbers, adjustable in three stages ESP with traction control, an electronic differential lock ( Torque Vectoring Control). The standard equipment is quite extensive, in addition to air conditioning are Recaro sports seats, CD audio system with USB port and audio remote control, a power- start function and 18 -inch alloy wheels in "ST " design with low-profile tires and tire pressure monitoring system available. The grille is held in glossy black, to give finished in the body color roof spoiler, special side sills, a rear diffuser and an exhaust system with a centrally a positioned double tailpipes of the car a sporty look. The tournament model also features a recessed black roof rails. Focus in the U.S.

In North America, the Focus was the direct successor to the Escort, where there especially the notchback version is traditionally asked. The launch of the Focus was carried out in North America, however, until the spring of 2000, two years after the European launch. The Escort was produced but two more years. The first U.S. Focus was apart of visual details and the engines offered with the European version identical and was like this as a three - and five-door hatchback, sedan and station wagon ( called in the U.S. Wagon ) offered.

Introduced in the fall of 2007 second U.S. generation Focus, however, had nothing to do with the European model, since it is an optically revised focus of the first generation. The vehicle was available only as a four-door notchback sedan, as well as a two-door coupe available and the only engine of 2.0-liter Duratec with 104 kW (140 hp).

The third generation is marketed in parallel in Europe and the U.S. since early 2011. Unlike in Europe, the Focus was in North and Central America initially available only with a four-cylinder petrol engine with Ti - VCT and 2.0 liters of displacement, which makes 119 kW. Since spring 2012 there is the purely electric-powered Focus Electric and since the summer of 2012, the Focus ST with the 2.0 -liter EcoBoost engine.
