Fred Beavis

Fred Beavis (* 1914, † July 11, 1997 in Toronto, Ontario) was a Canadian politician. He was for many years the city council of Toronto and held from 1 September 1978 to 30 November 1978, the office of Mayor of Toronto.

Beavis was founded in 1961 for the first time City Council and remained there, with one exception 1975-1977 to the year 1988. He was a member of several committees, including the Executive Committee. After David Crombie his office as mayor resigned in August 1978 to switch to federal politics, had to find a new interim mayor. Beavis and Councillor Anne Johnston had the same number of votes, so the decision had to be Beavis and so held the office in November of the same year until the mayoral election. Fred was married to Frances Beavis Beavis and died on 11 July 1997 in Toronto St. Michael's Hospital with pneumonia.
