Joshua George Beard

Joshua George Beard ( * 1797, † November 9, 1866 in Toronto, Ontario ) was a Canadian politician and from January 1854 to January 1855 the 10th mayor of Toronto. From 1834 on, he was sitting with two exceptions (1848, 1853) in the city government as either municipal or city council for Ward St. Lawrence until he was in 1853 elected by the council to the mayor. Beard was smelters and had his first business at the corner of Victoria Street and Adalaide and later on the Jarvis Street near Front Street.
