Ralph Day

Ralph C. Day (* November 24, 1889 in Toronto, Ontario, † May 21, 1976 ) was the 46th mayor of Toronto.

Ralph Day grew up in the Toronto district of Cabbagetown. At 17 he went to the Canadian Army, as their relatives, he fought in the First World War. He participated in the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917. Day began his political career in the 1930s with the election of the City Council, 1934. Between 1938 and 1940 he was mayor of Toronto. From 1963 to 1972 Day was chairman of the Toronto Transit Commission. Ralph Day was married and had two daughters and a son.
