Barbara Hall (politician)

Barbara Hall ( born 1946 ) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician. She was from 1 December 1994 to 31 December 1997, the 61st mayor of Toronto. On 28 November 2005 she was appointed for three years to the chief officer of the organization Ontario Human Rights Commission.

Hall visited for some time, the University of Victoria in British Columbia, moved to Nova Scotia later. She studied at the members of the York University Osgoode Hall Law School Law and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada, a legal association in Canada.

Barbara Hall came in 1993 against the incumbent June Rowlands as mayor candidate at the election and could decide for themselves. As a non-party, she was supported by the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP ). Their success came as a surprise, because at the same time was the NDP - Governor of Ontario, Bob Rae, at the low point of his popularity. In 1997 she lost her office when Mel Lastman ran against them. In 2003 she tried with the support of the Ontario Liberal Party another candidacy for mayor, but lost to David Miller.
