John Shaw (Canadian politician)

John Shaw ( * 1837, † 1917) was a lawyer, politician and 29th mayor of Toronto.

From 1883 to 1895 he was a member of the City Council and a year later ran unsuccessfully against then- incumbent Robert John Fleming. In 1897 he ran again after Fleming resigned his office in August and has the choice to decide for themselves. Shaw was on 6 August 1897 to January 1899 Mayor of Toronto. He lived with his wife, the opening ceremony at the City Hall of Toronto. After his tenure as mayor, he was elected for two years in the Control of the City Council and entered 1908 for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, and was, until his retirement from politics in 1911 a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
