Oliver Aiken Howland

Oliver Aiken Howland ( born April 18, 1847 in Lambton Mills, Ontario, † November 9, 1904 ) was a lawyer, politician, and the 31st mayor of Toronto. Howland was a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Howland was born in Lambton Mills, now the Etobicoke, the son of the politician William Pearce Howland. His ancestors, up to the landing of the Mayflower traced. He went to Upper Canada College to school. He studied at the University of Toronto and practiced law in Toronto since 1875. Howland was Vice - President of the Bar Association Canadian Bar Association and was from 1894 to 1895 in the Council of the Canadian Institute. From June 26 1894 to January 28, 1898, he was a member of the Parliament of the Province of Ontario government. From January 1901 to January 1903 he was mayor of Toronto. His older brother William Holmes Howland also served as mayor.
