Thomas Langton Church

Thomas Langton Church ( * 1870 in Toronto, Ontario, † February 7, 1950 ) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and 37th mayor of Toronto.

Church was from January 1915 to January 1922 Mayor of Toronto and then in federal politics. During his tenure, he was occasionally mocked in the editions of the Toronto Star by Ernest Hemingway, who at this time worked as a reporter at the newspaper. In the 14th general election he was elected as a candidate of the Conservative Party of Canada in the Canadian Parliament. At the general election in 1930 he was voted out though, but was able to say in 1934 in a by-election as an MP.
