Sant'Arpino

Sant'Arpino is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,031 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The community is located about 11 kilometers northwest of Naples and about 12 km southwest of Caserta. The municipality borders the province of Naples.

History

Sant'Arpino is outside the ruins of the ancient Oscan city Atella. Due to the decline Atellas around the 10th/11th. Century AD, settled outside the former city walls citizens. The village took its name from the Bishop Elpidius. Hence the current place name which is also officially since the beginning of the 17th century came from.

Traffic

Together with the neighboring municipality of Sant 'Antimo is the station Sant' Antimo - Sant'Arpino at the Roma- Formia -Naples.
