Australia at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Australia took at the 1996 Summer Olympics for the 22nd time in the Olympic Summer Games in part. The crew consisted of 417 athletes, of whom 250 men and 167 were women. They came in 211 competitions in 26 sports and won it nine gold, nine silver and 23 bronze medals. In order for the Australian team reached the seventh place in the medals table. The youngest participant was a gymnast Kirsty Leigh- Brown with 14 years and 251 days, the oldest was the shooter Pat Murray with 51 years and 135 days. The Australian flag was worn during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 by Andrew Hoy riding in the Olympic Stadium.
