Chipilly

Chipilly ( Picard: Chipillin ) is a northern French village with 188 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Bray- sur -Somme and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the right, partially steep slopes forming the banks of the meandering here Somme opposite Cerisy, around twelve kilometers east of Corbie and eleven kilometers south of Albert. It extends north to the road department D1.

History

In Chipilly heavy fighting took place at the Battle of Amiens ( 1918) in August 1918.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
