Hem-Monacu

Hem - Monacu ( Picard: L' Hem - Monacu ) is a commune with 122 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Combles and is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Combles.

Geography

The municipality is located around 10 km north- west of Peronne at the Department of Road D938 Peronne on Albert to Doullens. On the eastern edge of the township Autoroute A1 run with a situated outside the municipal area connection point and the high-speed rail route of the LGV Nord. To the south, the municipality is bordered by the River Somme, which forms a broad alluvial plain of the Marais de Hem here. The municipality consists of the villages of La Ferme and Monacu. The populated part of the village stretches along the floodplain.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
