FedCon
FedCon (short for Federation Convention ) is a German Convention on the topics of science fiction, fantasy and mystery with a focus on Star Trek. According to details of the broadcasters, FedCon GmbH, FedCon is the biggest Star Trek and science fiction event in Europe.
It takes place since 1992 every year in spring. First she found at different locations, in recent years but mostly at the Maritim Hotel in Bonn. Exception was the year 2006 when she appeared briefly in Esperanto Hotel in Fulda. But it is returned to Bonn in 2007. Since 2011 it takes place at the Maritim Hotel in Dusseldorf. In recent years, the organization of approximately 6,000 fans per year was visited.
The focus of the event will be in addition to lectures on various topics from science fiction and science so-called panels, in which the star guests, including in particular actors, but also writers, scientists and astronauts answer questions from the fans.
In contrast to the science-fiction events that have their origins in the 1960s to the 1980s and were usually more oriented to science fiction literature, in FedCon film and television are the primary forms of media. The contents are therefore also usually visually or people oriented. FedCon arose from a pure Star Trek convention, but their spectrum has expanded continuously over the years. This is demonstrated by the guests as well as to the visitors, which often appear dressed accordingly.
Over the years, many well-known actors were guests, including Leonard Nimoy ( Spock ), William Shatner ( Kirk), Brent Spiner (Data), Avery Brooks ( Sisko ), Kate Mulgrew ( Janeway ), Armin Shimerman ( Quark ) and Jolene Blalock ( T'Pol ) from the various Star Trek series. Also, were among other actors from Stargate - Kommando SG -1, Stargate Atlantis, Babylon 5, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Buffy, Farscape, Andromeda and Xena welcomed.
In the fall of 2002 Ring * Con was first held - the sister convention FedCon with the main focus on Lord of the Rings - her range has expanded in 2006 to Fantasy in general, therefore, since the subtitle Ring * Con The Fantasy Convention bears.

- FedCon XXIII will be held from 29 May to 1 June 2014 at the Maritim Hotel Dusseldorf. Previously announced in addition to some other as guest stars, among others, Amanda Tapping, Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Tony Curran, Julie Benz, Natasha Henstridge and Nicole de Boer.
