Requirements

The half marathon is a popular race for amateurs, as it represents a serious challenge without requiring the same training as a marathon. The distance is often offered as part of open races.

A quickly overflowed Half Marathon places different demands on the human organism than the neighboring disciplines 10,000 -meter run and marathon. The 10,000 - meter race is run almost at the speed with maximum oxygen uptake, the marathon, however, below the anaerobic threshold. For a good half-marathon runners, however, is a contest over an hour quite well the maximum exposure to this emerging pace represents a less well-trained runner who can not achieve such a pace, but must remain under his personal threshold pace, otherwise the period in this load range is too long.

At the international level are run in half marathons peak times in the range 1:00 to 1:05 hours, which corresponds to a rate of 3 minutes per km or 20 km / h.
