Krummenau
Krummenau is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rhaunen.
Geography
Krummenau lies in the Hunsrück region north of the 746 meter high Idarkopf in Idarwald. 61.6 percent of the district area is forested. The Idarbach flows through the village. To the west is Horbruch, in the north and east is Niederweiler Laufersweiler.
To Krummenau and the living space belongs Weylandsmühle.
History
Krummenau was first mentioned on 20 November 1086. A manuscript from the end of the 18th century - kept in the archives of the Museum Wasserburg Anholt of Prince Salm -Salm in Isselburg - Anhold in Westphalia - is the only document.

Parish council
The local council in Krummenau consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Culture and sights
The Protestant church dates from the year in 1747. About the Idarbach performs a slate arch bridge where the old dial is mounted with the golden digits of the old church clock. The 400 year old imperial oak is protected as a natural monument. It stands about 500 m southeast of the village.

In Krummenau there is a village hall. In Idar -Oberstein is a station on the railway line Bingen- Saarbrücken. In the north are the federal highway 50 and the Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.
