Lordi
Lordi is a Finnish Founded in 1992, hard rock band. She is known for her unusual stage costumes depicting zombies and monsters.
Their music is reminiscent of a mix of traditional hard rock bands such as Kiss, Twisted Sister, Accept, Zodiac Mindwarp, WASP or Alice Cooper mixed with modern elements like electronic sounds.

Mr. Lordi ( Tomi Putaansuu ) (* February 15, 1974 in Rovaniemi ) is the lead singer and founder of the eponymous band. At eight, he learned keyboard, guitar, bass and drums. He was fascinated by the music of the band Kiss. Later he became president of her fan club Finnish KISS Army. He is a supporter of hard -rock of the 1980s, which explains the music style of his band. Lordi made themselves out to make-up and special effects artist. Therefore, it stood to reason that he also designed all the costumes of his band members. His own costume has fold-out wings of a bat and 20 cm high platform shoes as an extra. He has been married since the beginning of August 2006, four years younger Johanna Askola that acts as his personal assistant.
Amen ( Jussi Sydänmaa ) ( born June 26, 1972 in Mäntsälä ) is the guitarist of the band and kicked her in the year 1996. He embodies a mummy. His costume consisted initially of only a few bandages, he switched to this in 2006 against a fuller effect costume that makes him look like a resurrected Pharaoh.
Ox ( Samer el Nahhal ) ( born July 11, 1975 in Espoo ) is the bassist of Lordi and came in October 2005 the band. Initially, he practiced with the former member Kalma before he took over his position. In January 2006 he first played with the band on stage. He is paternal Egyptian origin.
Mana is since 2012 the drummer of Lordi and replaced the recently deceased Otus. His costume is primarily represents the zombie of a pastor, but also has insectoid ingredients.
Hella is the keyboard player with Lordi and Awa replaced in this function. Her costume represents a life-size doll
Former members
Magnum ( Sami wolking ) ( born November 8, 1973 in Helsinki ) was the bassist for Lordi in the years 1998 to 2002. He was replaced by Kalma. His costume was reminiscent of a giant robot.
Kalma ( Niko Hurme ) (born 11 November 1974) played as the successor to the Magnum bass and also sang background. Kalmas Costume set a biker zombie dar. He was from 2002 to 2005 with the band and taught himself to play his instrument. Kalma was replaced by Ox. In 2011 he participates as part of Stala & So at the Finnish preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest. The name Kalma comes from the goddess of death and decay from the Finnish mythology.
Enary ( Erna Siikavirta ) ( born November 8, 1977 in Espoo ) from 1997 to August 2005 as a keyboardist with Lordi and enjoyed his training as a concert pianist. In 1998, she was on tour with Children of Bodom. From 1998 to 2001 she played in the Finnish metal band Grain, but broke up in 2001. In August 2005, she was encouraged due to some personal and musical differences, to leave the band. It was replaced by Awa.
G- Stealer ( Sami Keinänen ) (* 1973 in Rovaniemi ) was until 1998 the bass player Lordi. He left the band because he emigrated for work reasons from Finland to England.
Kita ( Sampsa Astala ) ( born January 23, 1974 in Vantaa ) was the drummer of the band and introduced an alien monster dar. He came in 2000 to Lordi and was also responsible for the background vocals. His name means roughly translates " the throat ". Kita is, contrary to the allegations he was a Satanist, practicing Christian. He left the band in 2010 to devote himself to his own career, which is in direct contrast to Lordi's image. In 2011 he participates as part of Stala & So at the Finnish preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest.
Otus ( Tonmi Lillman ) ( born June 3, 1973 in Kouvola, † 14 February 2012) was from 2010 dar. until his death in 2012 the drummer of Lordi and placed so that the successor of Kita He's on any album the band to hear.
Awa ( Leena Peisa ) ( born March 16, 1979 in Porvoo ) was the keyboardist of Lordi and the only woman in the band. She gave in the fall of 2005 the band and replaced the former member Enary. Band History
1992-2000
The band was formed in 1992 by Mr. Lordi to life and named after his nickname. For four years, Lordi was operated as a solo project, only to Amen and shortly after G- Stealer duzustießen.
Lordi tried from now to get a record deal, but this turned out to be difficult, which is mainly due to the unconventional pairing of the outfit that makes you think of a Death or Black Metal band to the music of the band.

A year later Lordi stood close before the release of their debut album Bend Over and Pray the Lord, but broke down again, because the record label went bankrupt. In the same year left G- Stealer again the band because he emigrated to England for professional reasons. He was replaced by Magnum.
2000-2006
After almost ten years as a band, however, Lordi received a recording contract with BMG Finland. In January 2002, then appeared the single Would You Love a Monsterman that a surprise hit was in Finland, reaching number one on the charts and went gold. It is the only video of the band, on the Magnum can be seen as a bass player since he got out shortly after the release of the single and was replaced by Kalma.
Approximately nine months later then appeared to Get Heavy 's first studio album of the band, which reached number three on the charts in Finland and platinum status. Beginning of 2003, then appeared the second single Devil Is a Loser, but not quite reached the success of the first two releases. As of December 2002 Lordi also appeared live and in favoring appearance at Wacken Open Air in 2003 represented a success.
Published in 2004 Lordi their second album The Monsterican Dream. Unlike its predecessors, on the of the band members only Mr. Lordi was involved in the songwriting, here songs were released by all band members, which was not planned according to Mr. Lordi before. As Singles Blood Red Sandman and My Heaven Is Your Hell were published, of which the former reached number one on the Finnish charts.
2005 Enary and Kalma left the band independently. Enary was from the other band members suggested to leave the band because personal and musical differences had occurred. Kalma left the band because he no longer saw himself as an effective part of the band in his own words, but still played the bass for the next album The Arockalypse one. Winner of the Euro Vision Song Contest 2006
In March 2006, Lordi participated in the Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 in Finland's preliminary decision. In the first round, which took place on 13 January 2006, the audience chose first from one of two tracks of the twelve preliminary participant to which each group then took in the second round against the selected titles of other participants.
Lordi came with the titles Hard Rock Hallelujah and Bringing Back the Balls to Rock, both of which had their origin at the Hard Rock, in the first of the four semifinals at, which was broadcast live on Finnish TV2 at 20:00 clock. The group was supported by the lead singer of the Thunder Stones Pasi Rantanen, who contributed backing vocals to two songs. A slight majority of Finns chose the first title, which therefore should be Lordi's first single from the album The Arockalypse.
In the final round of the Finnish preliminary decision on 10 March 2006, Lordi were able to prevail with 42.2% of the vote against eleven competitors.
They thus represented Finland in the semifinals in Athens on 18 May 2006., Where they could qualify as one of ten contributions to the final, where they moved in with the number 17.
Lordi won on 20 May 2006 the Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 with 292 points. So you beat Dima Bilan from Russia ( 248 points) and Hari Mata Hari of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( 229 points ) with 44 and 63 points ahead. With this success Lordi took care of the first Finnish victory at the Euro Vision Song Contest. As was known in the ESC final, Lordi won already the ESC semi-final, also with 292 points ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( 267 points ) and Russia ( 217 points ).
The group was received at the old fish market in Helsinki of 70,000 Finns a week after her return from Athens. 2008 to today
On 31 October 2008 the fourth studio album Deadache appeared worldwide. As with the previous three albums, the costumes were (but only slightly ) changed. As singles the title track of the album Deadache were published in February 2008 Beast Loose in Paradise and in September 2008 Bite It Like a Bulldog and in December of the same year.
On 20 February 2009, the best-of- album was released Zombilation. In the bonus version, there is a live recording from Stockholm in 2006 to do so.
2010 appeared the fifth album of the band, Babez for Breakfast. Again worked Lordi together for a song with Bruce Kulick. The album reached number nine of the Finnish charts and thus represents the least successful album of the band in Finland dar. as singles This Is Heavy Metal and Rock Police were released, with the former but the latter was only limited and available only as a download. It is the last album, can be heard on the day care center as a drummer. He left the band soon afterwards and was replaced by Otus.
On 15 February 2012, the band announced that their drummer Otus had died from yet unknown cause. On 25 July of the same year came the news that the band will be separated from their keyboardist Awa at their request after an anniversary concert for the 20 - year band anniversary or the 10th anniversary of the debut album Get Heavy on 11 August of the year.
On 17 December 2012, the new members of Hella (keyboard) and mana (drums) were officially presented at the Lordi website, along with the new costumes of the entire band. At the same time it was announced that the new album would be named To Beast or Not to Beast. Also they gave price information that they would go in the spring 2013 European tour, with nine appearances in Germany.
