Louis A. Bafalis

Louis Arthur "Skip" Bafalis ( born September 28, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts ) is a retired American politician. Between 1973 and 1983 he represented the state of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Louis Bafalis visited until 1948, the Manchester Central High School in New Hampshire and then to 1952, the St. Anselm 's College in Manchester. Between 1953 and 1956 he was a soldier in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he worked as an investment banker. In the meantime, he moved to Florida. Politically Bafalis was a member of the Republican Party. In 1964 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Florida. Between 1966 and 1970, Bafalis belonged to the state Senate. In 1970 he applied unsuccessfully for the nomination in his party as a candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

In the congressional elections of 1972 Bafalis was in the tenth constituency of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeds J. Herbert Burke took up on January 3, 1973, who joined in the twelfth district. After four elections he could pass in Congress until January 3, 1983, five were legislatures. 1982 Bafalis renounced in favor of a candidate in the gubernatorial election on a re-election to Congress; but he was defeated by Democratic incumbent Bob Graham with 35:65 percent of the vote. In the following years he worked for a political consulting firm.
