Province of Caserta

The Caserta ( Italien. Provincia di Caserta ) is a province of the Campania region. Capital is Caserta. It has 908 784 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in 104 communities covering an area of 2,639 km ².

The province corresponded to the province of Terra del Lavoro of the Kingdom of Naples. Since in this province was especially a lot of resistance against the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini dissolved the province and the municipalities distributed to the neighboring provinces of Rome, Naples, Benevento, Campobasso and the newly established province of Frosinone.

1945 was the province as a province of Caserta again, but without the communities that belonged now to the region of Lazio.
