Sülfeld

Sülfeld is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. It consists of the districts Borstel, Peter field, Sülfeld and Tönningstedt since 1936.

History

The Church in Sülfeld was first mentioned in 1207. The remains of the Alster -best channel that was created in the first half of the 16th century, are still present in the center.

From 1907 to 1973 the station was Sülfeld Elmshorn - Barmstedt - Oldesloer railroad.

Policy

Of the 17 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections in 2013 nine seats, the voter community ABS has five and the SPD three seats.

Economy

The community is predominantly agricultural, but a special place is occupied by the Research Center Borstel, which deals with medicine and life sciences.

Good and Research Center Borstel

The Gutsbezirk Borstel, which included the villages Grabau, Kayhude, Oering, Seth and Sülfeld and later to Good Jersbek belonging places Bargfeld, Elmenhorst, Mönkenbrook, Nienwohld, Rade, webs and Wulksfelde, 1927 resolved. It was formerly known as Borlstede or Borstelde and first mentioned in the mid 13th century. 1588, the property was divided and Good Jersbek, now in Stormarn separated. 1806 Good Grabau became independent.

The current Borsteler mansion was built in 1751 in Rococo style.

1930, the estate was converted into a children's convalescent home and since then had a checkered history as a training ground for the female labor service under the Nazis and as a reception center for refugees after the Second World War. Since 1947, Good Borstel is the seat of the company founded by the state of Schleswig -Holstein and in 1963 converted into a Foundation Research Center Borstel and related research clinic.
