Béthencourt-sur-Somme
Bethencourt -sur -Somme is a commune with 131 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality is part of the Canton of Nesle and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays Neslois.
Geography
The municipality is situated on the west bank of the canalized Somme north of here Rouy -le- Grand and south of Pargny at the department road D62. By lying on the opposite side of the valley of the Somme Villecourt there is a road link across a bridge. The flood plain belongs in large part to the municipality.
History
In Bethencourt was in the 13th century until the reign of Louis XIII. Outbound castle controlled the crossing of the Somme.
The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
