Estrées-Mons

Estrées -Mons ( Picard: etree - Mon) is a commune with 574 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Peronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.

Geography

The composite from the previous towns of Mons- en- Chaussée and Estrées -en- Chaussée municipality is located north of the valley of Omignon about 9 km south-east of Peronne at the Department road D1029 ( Chaussée Brune skin). Districts (of Mons -en- Chaussée ) are Prusles and St- Cren. In the village there is ( in part on the territory of the municipality Monchy- Lagache ) the aerodrome Aerodrome de Peronne -St. Quentin.

History

The church, which was destroyed in the First World War, was awarded the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

In 1973, the municipalities of Estrées -en- Chaussée and Mons-en -Chaussée merged to form the new municipality of Estrées -Mons.
