History

Nieuw -West ( New West) was created as an urban district of Amsterdam West after the Second World War as part of the garden cities of Amsterdam ( Westelijke Tuinsteden ), also called " Park City Amsterdam " and renamed Nieuw- West, 2005. The " Westelijke Tuinsteden " or Nieuw- West were built in the 1950s as a residential area after 1928 established the "General Expansion Plan " (Algemeen Uitbreidungsplan AUP ). Geuzenveld

Geuzenveld is a multicultural district with 14,130 inhabitants ( 2008). Geuzenveld and Slotermeer emerged in the 1950s. The name Geuzenveld was named after a farm ( Boerenhofstede ), who was lying on the road Haarlemmerweg. From municipal archives shows that the farm " Geuzenveld " was mentioned for the first time on December 6, 1709. Geuzenveld lies in the so-called " western garden cities" ( Westelijke tuinsteden ) of Amsterdam.
