Cléry-sur-Somme

Clery -sur -Somme ( Picard: Clery -su - sonme ) is a commune with 538 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Peronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.

Geography

The intersected by the road department D938 municipality is located north-west of Peronne mostly on the north bank of the Somme, during the district Omiécourt -lès- Clery is located on the opposite bank of the Somme. In the west the municipality extends to the Autoroute A1. The ponds of the upper Somme in the municipal area are known for their eel.

History

The devastated at the Somme in September 1916 during the Battle Municipality was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.
