Éclusier-Vaux

Éclusier -Vaux ( Picard: Éclusier - Veux ) is a northern French village with 90 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Bray- sur -Somme and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.

Geography

The community is for the most part on the right ( Vaux ) and to a lesser extent ( Éclusier ) on the left bank of the meandering here and Ponds ( Marais de Vaux, Marais d' Éclusier ) extended, bordered by steep cliffs Somme, about 6 km east of Bray- sur- Somme. The Mairie is standing alone halfway between the two parts of the municipality. In the municipality of a country house of correction is ( Maison Familiale Rurale et ). The Montagne de Vaux is composed of oligotrophic grasslands and offers the Belvédère de Vaux at the chapel Notre- Dame de Vaux remarkable views of the valley of the Somme.

History

Vaux, said to have been in the 5th century by King Clovis I. Vedast, the Bishop of Arras paid is called in the year 1259 under the name of Vals. In the Middle Ages it was under the abbey of Saint -Vaast. Éclusier is younger.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
