Glan-Münchweiler

Glan- Münchweiler is a municipality in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland -Palatinate, situated on the river Glan. It is the administrative seat of the homonymous municipality and reported as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

Geography

The municipality is located in north- Palatinate mountains in a basin of Glantals. The two districts are Glan- Münchweiler and Bettenhausen.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1019 as Mönchweiler documented, Bettenhausen in 1393rd In 1885 Munchweiler am Glan was renamed in Glan- Münchweiler. see also Castle Munchweiler

In preparation for the French campaign of World War II was built by the Todt Organization in Glan- Münchweiler the Führer's headquarters glade. This was indeed completed, but never used as a headquarters leader in the true sense. Meanwhile, the system is completely dismantled.
