Gunnar Heiðar Þorvaldsson

Gunnar Heiðar Þorvaldsson, alternative spelling: Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson, (born 1 April 1982) is an Icelandic football player.

He began his career at the Icelandic Club ÍB Vestmannaeyja. In September 2004, he joined the Swedish Fotbollsallsvenskan to Halmstad BK. There he was in the 2004/2005 season with 16 goals scorer. There He also accomplished goals in the UEFA Cup. The Halmstad fans voted him the best player of the season. In the summer of 2006 Þorvaldsson changed hands for approximately 1,000,000 € for Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga, where he signed a contract until 2009. His league debut came on 26 August 2006 at the game against Alemannia Aachen (0:3). In August 2007 he was loaned to the Norwegian first division side Vålerenga IF. In July 2008 he joined the Danish first division side Esbjerg fB. From there, he was loaned to second half of 2009/10 on the Reading FC in the Football League Championship. From there he went to the Norwegian second division club Fredrikstad FK, for the time being until the end of the season. Since January 2011 Þorvaldsson is the Swedish first division club IFK Norrköping under contract.

Þorvaldsson has played in 21 games for the Icelandic national football team, where 5 goals get him. On August 5, 2013 Gunnar Þorvaldsson signed a two year contract with the Turkish first division club Torku Konyaspor.
