History

Numerous grave mound in the municipal area are testimony to a settlement of this landscape area since prehistoric times.

The place name is in 1100 for the first time in a Mainz certificate for the monastery Disibodenberg mention in which a certain " Ludovicus de host Eden " ( Ludwig von Stetten high ) presented the monastery with goods which he possessed in the village Merxheim. The prefix of the name " high " has nothing to do with the geographical location of both districts, as high Stetten and high cities are located in the Middle lowlands. The place name is rather to the basic form " croft " back and marks the spot where once a landowner had a farm.

The district high Stetten on the left near side was formerly officially " Next Hochstetten ", while the present district of high cities named on the other side of the river " About Hochstetten ". The centuries used additives " Next " and " About " related to the position of the two villages to lock Dhaun to distinguish the nearby Dhaun " Next Hochstetten " from the lying beyond the Middle " About Hochstetten ". Both villages were part of the wild and Rhine Count's Office Dhaun and formed the court or the Schultheißerei high Stetten.

Having had ended the so-called " Dhauner feud " between the wild- Count Johann von Dhaun and the Electors of Trier Baldwin for Wildgrafen with a defeat, had to be the village high Stetten in 1342 ceded to the Electorate of Trier, in turn, the Wildgrafen again so enfeoffed and thus its allegiance assured. The Counts of Veldenz had in high Stetten certain assets and rights which they had given to followers.

In 1426 Johann Vogt of simmering half the village and court had to About Hochstetten from Dhauner Wildgrafen fief. The wild Count's Office Dhaun was in 1515 from the castle, the village Dhaun, the village and the Bailiwick simmering under Dhaun, the villages over-and next- Hochstetten and the Dhaun'schen shares in Kirn, Bergen, Rhaunen and Stockhausen.

1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied during the First Coalition War, in 1798 the territory of the French Direktorialregierung was reorganized according to the French model. The Near here formed the boundary between two departments. The municipalities ' Next Hochstetten " ( high Stetten ) and Dhaun the Mairie Kirn Kirn and Canton was assigned, and were part of the Arrondissement de simmering in the Rhine -Moselle department; " About Hochstetten ", renamed in time " high cities," belonged to the Mairie Merxheim in Canton Meis home, which was the Arrondissement de Birkenfeld assigned in the Saar Territory. The Protestant parish of " St. Johannisberg " lost its independence and the parish Meckenbach was subordinated.

After the end of French rule in the left bank of the Rhine (1814 ), the region was granted to the Congress of Vienna the Kingdom of Prussia, which it took possession in April 1815. The communities Hochstetten and Dhaun came in 1816 for mayor Kirn (1927 renamed Office Kirn- Kand ) in a circle Kreuznach Region of Koblenz. The area south of the Obvious in 1816 ceded to the Landgrave of Hesse- Homburg. High cities became part of the Upper Office Meisenheim, which existed until 1866 and was to become the Prussian circle Meis home. High cities belonged to the mayor's Meddersheim (1927 renamed the Office Meddersheim ). The circle Meis home was built in 1932 incorporated into the circle Kreuznach and so ends the different circle membership of the three municipalities Dhaun, high- cities and high Stetten. After the dissolution of the Office Meddersheim high cities came to office in 1940 also Kirn -Land, from 1968, the present-day municipality Kirn -Land was formed.
