La Neuville-lès-Bray

La Neuville- lès -Bray ( Picard: L' Neuville- lès -Bray ) is a northern French village with 270 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Bray- sur -Somme and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.

Geography

Located on the meandering here and enhanced by ponds Somme community is located just south of Bray- sur -Somme on the opposite ( left ) bank of the river. With Bray it is connected by two bridges, one of which the department of road D329 runs. The development follows essentially the road from Bray after Montdidier. At La Neuville part of the Canal de la Somme, which pierces the loop of the river here, hamlet of Froissy, the starting point of the little tourist train P'tit Train Touristique de la Haute Somme. South of Froissy the slopes of Mont Clairon falls steeply in the Vallée de l' Enfer.

History

La Neuville made ​​until 1830 the suburb of Bray- sur -Somme and achieved this year its administrative independence.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
