Pietralunga

Pietralunga is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2149 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Perugia in Umbria.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 29 kilometers north of the regional and provincial capital of Perugia in the climatic classification of Italian communities in the zone E, 2364 GR / G.

The districts include Maritonda III (413 meters altitude) and Salceto Lame (719 meters altitude).

The neighboring municipalities are Apecchio (PU), Cagli (PU), Città di Castello, Gubbio, Montone and Umbertide.

History

How many finds and preserved sites of Roman antiquity show, the settlement is very old (Forum Julii Concupiensium ). Pliny the Elder mentions in his Naturalis historia place. In the migration period, the village was destroyed and it was only between the 6th and 7th century to a reconstruction of the settlement (as plebs Tuphiae ). Under the Lombards, the name changed in Pratalonga. It was not until 1817 then received the name of the church in today's version.
