Rasen-Antholz

Anterselva (Italian: Rasun Anterselva ) is a municipality in South Tyrol (Italy ) with 2835 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It includes the Antholz valley ( a tributary of the Val Pusteria ), and a smaller area of Val Pusteria. The community is particularly known for its cross-country and biathlon infrastructures.

Geography

Rasen-Antholz is located in the east of South Tyrol east of Brunico. The 120.92 km ² large municipality occupies the entire Antholz Valley. In addition, it includes also smaller areas of the running east -west direction Pusteria, from which branches off in a northerly direction, the Antholz Valley at Olanger pool. The population located in six major village settlements with group status as well as some hamlets and isolated farmsteads.

At the entrance to the Antholz valley, which is drained by the Antholz stream, located in close succession, first Niederrasen (1010-1050 m asl ), the capital of the municipality, and then Oberrasen (1080-1110 m). Much further along the valley are Antholz- Sotto (1110-1140 m), Antholz- Mezzo (1240-1270 m) and - after a swing of the valley to the northeast - the scattered settlement Antholz- upper valley ( about 1300 m ). In the valley there is the Lake Anterselva (1642 m ) before the terrain strongly the Staller Sattel ( 2052 m ) rises, a motorable pass on the border with Austria in East Tyrol Defereggental.

The Staller Sattel also makes the connection between the two mountain ranges that frame Antholz, the Rieserfernergruppe and Villgratner mountains. The ridge bounded the valley to the west and north and mostly found in Rieserferner Ahrn under protection, belongs to Rieserfernergruppe. Among the most important high above the valley floor uplifting peaks there are the Gelttalspitze ( 3126 m), the Magerstein ( 3273 m), the Wildgall ( 3273 m) and the Hochgall ( 3436 m), all of which shield Antholz from the northern Valle Reintal, and the Big Ears peak ( 3101 m). The crest of the mountains Villgratner that builds up on the east side to the Antholz Valley, does not have three thousand. Its highest peak is the Red Wall ( 2818 m). Since the boundary line deviates here for a short distance from the watershed, including the uppermost portion of Karbachtals which opens into the eastern Casies, to the municipality.

The part belonging to Anterselva section of Val Pusteria is limited in the pelvic area, where the southern neighbor Olang expands on the artisan area and the fraction Neunhäusern (1000-1010 m). To the west of the municipality bulges slightly from, including a few houses of tabs on the border with Percha and exceeds even the Rienz, which also includes a small area to Anterselva at the foot of the Kronplatz.

History

At 1,642 meters above sea level is located at the end of the Valley of Anterselva Lake (Lago di Anterselva ), which covers an area of 44 hectares. Beside the lake is the Biathlon Stadium Arena South Tyrol, is known throughout Europe for the Antholz. Here already five Biathlon World Championships were held, including the 2007 World Championships were held in Antholz. In addition, Biathlon World Cup races are held annually in Antholz. The routes are around 1,600 m, making them the highest in the Biathlon World Cup.

In summer, the Antholz valley for hiking and mountain biking is. For very experienced mountain bikers Klammlrunde is recommended: The circuit takes you along the Antholz valley, on the Staller Sattel ( 2052 m), then along the rear Defereggental ( Hohe Tauern National Park ), then the Klammljoch ( 2,288 m) to Reintal. From there, one comes across Campo Tures (864 m) and Brunico ( 800 m ) back to the lawn. The length of the route is just under 100 km.

In winter the Antholz valley is good for cross-country skiing, biathlon and skiing. In Antholz- Mittertal a drag lift ( Riepenlift ) and the Kronplatz ski area can be reached from Mittertal by car in 15 minutes. From lawn of the Kronplatz, however, is only 3 km away.
