Rötsweiler-Nockenthal

Rötsweiler - Nockenthal is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Birkenfeld.

Geography

The municipality consists of the villages Nockenthal and Rötsweiler. Nockenthal is located on Fleischbachstrasse, Rötsweiler on Aschbach. To the east of Idar- Oberstein is located.

History

Nockenthal 1324 was first mentioned in documents as Nockendail, Rötsweiler in 1429 as Rezwiler.

Both places were until the end of the 18th century to the Rear County of Sponheim. Nockenthal was eponymous for a " maintenance " and said Oberamt Birkenfeld assumed administrative and judicial district. To care Nockenthal included the villages Oberbrombach, Rötsweiler (then Retsweiler ), Sonneberg and Winnenberg.
