Roy H. Thorpe

Roy Henry Thorpe ( born December 13, 1874 in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana, † September 19, 1951 in Lincoln, Nebraska ) was an American politician. Between 1922 and 1923 he represented the first electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Roy Thorpe attended the common schools and the Greensburg High School. Then he studied pharmacy, medicine and law. Roy Thorpe also worked as a preacher. Between 1897 and 1904 he was a dealer in Du Quoin (Illinois), 1905 to 1919, he was in Shenandoah (Iowa) also engaged in trade.

Politically, Thorpe member of the Republican Party. In the years 1917-1918, ie, during the First World War, he worked for the State of Iowa in intelligence mission. In 1919 he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. In his new home he was engaged in the trade.

Following the resignation of Congressman C. Frank Reavis Thorpe was elected in the general elections due in the first district of Nebraska as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he took up his new mandate on November 7, 1922. He finished the runs until March 3, 1923 term of office of his predecessor. In 1922 he had dispensed with the regular midterm elections on a bid again. Therefore, he could spend in Congress just under four months.

In 1924, Thorpe ran but yet again for Congress. This candidacy but remained unsuccessful. Then he went on about his business, which later included the insurance industry.
