Sant'Anatolia di Narco

Sant'Anatolia di Narco is a municipality with 555 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Perugia in the Umbria region of Italy.

Geography

The municipality extends over some 47 km ². It is located about 60 km southeast of Perugia. The village lies at the foot of Mount Coscerno in the Valnerina valley and the river Nera.

The districts include Caso, Castel San Felice, Gavelli, grottos, San Martino Agelli and Tassinare.

The neighboring municipalities are Monteleone di Spoleto, Poggiodomo, Scheggino, Spoleto and Vallo di Nera.

History

The first human settlements in the village date back to the 8th to the 4th century BC, when the Naharci inhabited small settlements. After the Romans dominated the area. Built in 1178, the Count of Spoleto, Corrado di Hursligen, the castle, which has been taken over by the Papal States twenty years later. This was destroyed by Spoleto to build at almost the same place a new one. The new castle was named after Callistene Anatolia, which is visible in the place names today. 1320, the city walls were built in 1337 and the place declared faithful to Spoleto. During the clashes of Guelphs and Ghibellines in 1390-91 Valnerina Valley of place among the Ghibelline commanders Tommaso da Chiavano and Giovanni di Cola di Monteleone was destroyed. On July 5, 1551 declared himself the place for free commune, in which he wrote his statutes. Nevertheless, the place still stood in close relationship with Spoleto and the Papal States until 1798 Napoleon's troops invaded and until 1814 held the rule. 1861, the city was incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy.
