Thomas Möllenkamp

Thomas Möllenkamp ( born October 7, 1961 in Osnabrück ) is a retired German rower. He took part in the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games and 1988 Olympic champion.

Möllenkamp began in 1975 with the rowing. In 1979 he was awarded the quad to the Osnabrück rowing club second in the Junior World Championship. 1980 Möllenkamp could qualify with the aft ( rowing) for the Olympics, because of the Olympic boycott, however, he could not go to Moscow. 1981 Möllenkamp won the coxless four seventh in the World Championship. 1980, 1982 and 1988 Möllenkamp was German champion in the coxless four. For the Olympic Games 1984 Möllenkamp wanted to qualify in four. After he did not succeed, he started with Axel Wöstmann in the coxless pairs. The two rowers Osnabrück surprised as fourth-placed and narrowly missed the bronze medal. Four years later, Möllenkamp failed to qualify for Germany eighth. In the occupation of Wolfgang Maennig, Thomas Möllenkamp, Matthias Mellinghaus, Eckhardt Schultz, Ansgar Wessling, Armin Eichholz, Thomas Domian, batsman Bahne Rabe and helmsman Manfred Klein aft won at the Olympic Games in Seoul gold.

Overall Möllenkamp won four German league titles. After his career, Dr. Thomas Möllenkamp was temporarily Chairman of the Osnabrück Rowing Club. Thomas Möllenkamp has two children.
