Bokel, Rendsburg-Eckernförde

Bokel is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Bokel is located about 14 km southwest of Rendsburg and is on the L 328 (formerly 205 highway ), the Federal Highway 7 and the railway line from Rendsburg to Neumünster ( about Nortorf, Bokel does not have its own train station more) to reach.

History

The village was first mentioned in the mid 13th century as Boclo ( Buchhain ). In Bokel was since 1589 a forced water mill in which all residents of the parish until the mid 19th century had to have their grain ground. 1832 a windmill was built in addition, since the Bokeler Au led not always enough water to power the mill reliable. Today, the water mill has become an ordinary apartment building, where a Aalmuseum is housed.
